About Antoine Ferrari
Antoine Ferrari moved to Paris, where he mixed with the painters of Montparnasse. Encouraged by Kees van Dongen, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne of 1927.
A grant from the city of Marseille allowed him to attend the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. There he met the painters Ambrogiani, Serra and Mandin, who remained his friends throughout his life.
In 1933 he held his first exhibition at the Galerie Alexis Jouvène.
In 1937 he was awarded the Villa Abd-el-Tif prize and stayed on in Algeria beyond the two years of residence the prize provided. Because of the war, he did not return to France until five years later.
